For mountain hiking enthusiasts in Morocco, this experience of two-days in the Imlil Valley in the Grand Atlas from Marrakech is the best way to discover hidden paths, passes, valleys, traditional villages and above all the unique Berber lifestyle rich in sharing and simplicity.
After breakfast in Marrakech, your driver will pick you up from your accommodation to drive you to the High Atlas mountains via Tahnnaout, Oued Ghighaya and Asni. Enjoy superb views of the villages along the route to the village of Imlil, where you will meet your guide and mule driver. Your 6 hours hike will start with the ascent of the Tizi Mzik pass (2684m above sea level) with a spectacular view of the Imlil valley and Toubkal (the highest peak in North Africa). Then you will continue to Tamsoulte to visit the highest waterfalls of the Great Atlas (100m high) then you will descend the Azzaden valley through the juniper forest to Tizi Oussem where you will spend the night in a guest house .
During your breakfast you will enjoy a good sunbathing and a very beautiful view on this colorful valley and its wonderful typical Berber villages. Then you will leave Tizi Oussem to continue your climb towards Id Issa village to the Tizi Oudid pass (2000m), then you will cross the village Matat to reach a forest of wild junipers.
You will have lunch under the shade of the walnut trees while relaxing by the river and enjoying a unique view over the whole valley.
In the afternoon, you will join your vehicle at imlil for a return to Marrakech around 5 p.m.
